KETRACO pays state maiden dividend of Kshs. 20 Million

After only being in existence for less than three years, Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) which is mandated to design, construct, operate and maintain high voltage electricity transmission lines and substations has paid a dividend of Kshs. 20 million for the financial year 2009/2010.
In a brief ceremony at the Treasury, KETRACO Chairman, Mr. Justus Kageenu presented the cheque to Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Joseph Kinyua on 15th September 2011
The government of Kenya owns the company with Treasury holding 98% while Ministry of Energy has 2% equity. The dividend was approved by the Board of Directors of KETRACO during the first Annual General Meeting.
Speaking during the function, KETRACO’s Managing Director briefed the PS and his team on the operational and financial performance of the company during the fiscal year 2009-2010.
In his remarks the Permanent Secretary in the Finance Ministry thanked KETRACO for efficiency and improved financial health in its operations during the year.
